Poetic Matrix a periodic letteR on the poetic experience online letteR 4
From the Publisher

Too much time has passed since the last periodic letteR, but we named this periodic so that
we would not be under a deadline and could put it out when it was the best time. Now is the time
so, here is the 4th online edition. We have poems by some very talented poets with something to
say to us. Our contributors come from around the globe including: Ashok Niyogi - India,
Christopher Barnes - England, Molly Weller - with roots in Australia, Alex Galper - Ukraine, Joseph
O'Connell - Ireland. Tomás Gayton gives us poetry and pictures from his ongoing world travels
and Rayn Roberts' PhotoPoem is beautiful in language and beautiful visually, sent from his home
in South Korea. We have poetry from Gary Beck, Page McKay, James Downs, Barry Ettenger, and
Wendy Patrice Williams; Joyce Downs, and Tim Pariseault. We would like to thank J. Glenn and
Barbara Evans of PoetsWest for their continuing support; we present a note about what they are
doing along with some strong words from J. Glenn's vision.
Our New Volumes include: Art Campbell's TRIAL & ERROR The Education of a Freedom
Lawyer; John (Peterson)'s News of the Day; and Joel Netsky's The Unequivocality of a Rose.
Excerpts from these books are on the New Volumes Page.
Tomás Gayton recently received a First Place in the Short Story/Essay Category from The
African American Writers and Artists, Inc. in collaboration with San Diego Public Library and
Malcolm X Library & Performing Arts Center for an essay titled "Mexico's Forgotten Negros." Poetic
Matrix Press and WORDS Performance received a matching grant for Brandon Cesmat from Poets
& Writers Magazine for a PM/WORDS sponsored Madera reading.
We continue to donate copies of our titles to programs that may find value in them. Most
recently 35 copies of Driven into the Shade were donated to Yosemite High School and 24 copies
of our titles were donated to the KFCF Annual Banquet and Auction (KFCF is affiliated with KPFA
and the Pacific Network). Another 10 copies were donated to "Poetry in Motion: A Fund raiser to
Inspire and Motivate Change" a benefit for KFCF and the New Orleans chapter of ACORN for
Katrina relief.
Poetic Matrix Press recently joined CLMP, Council of Literary Magazines and Presses out of
New York City. CLMP took our titles with them to the Decatur Book Festival in August and will take
titles to The 2007 Miami Book Fair International and The Kenyon Review Literary Festival
Celebrating Margaret Atwood, both in November. We also recently participated in the California
Poets Festival in San Jose (a picture and short write-up turned up in the San Jose Mercury News).
We invite our readers to think about our poets and our titles when events are on the horizon.
Our poets enjoy traveling to present their poetry and we as a press are interested in taking our
titles where readers might find them.
Thanks again to James Downs for his assistance on this issue. I hope you enjoy another fine
presentation of the poetry of our times. Enjoy the guided poetry tour or go to the content page and
chose which page to visit. Your comments are welcome.
