"ON AMERICA'S HIGHWAY"
America vocation
Travel vacation
Roads leading down
America’s towns
Drive on by
Travel guide
Cross country ride
Highways in stride
USA on the map
Interstate overlap
Motels to rest
East to west
Countryside meet
Main Street
America’s sites
City lights
National parks
See landmarks
Traveler’s roam
America’s home
Roads turn
To the return
From miles away
On America’s highway

THE BEACH WALKER
The beach tour
At sandy shore
Beach plays host
Come walk the coast
In the sea breeze
By oceans and seas
The coastal way
Found at the bay
Rhythm of the tide
In flight goes by
Wave commotion
Of the ocean
Water’s edge
Golden rod hedge
Seaweed at bay
Jelly fish lay
Shells on the beach
Within reach
Winds lift
The sand drift
Life measures
Beaches treasures
Nature stalker
The beach walker

Hearts of Holly
Hearts of holly,
lips of yew,
hips, gee golly,
they go, too.
Roaring rivers
stir the mind
capture concepts
bold and blind.
Ageless music
drives the soul
creations cyclic
creations whole.
Whatever is,
Whoever does,
first to is
then to was.

Lonely Streets, Silent Sounds
Lonely streets, silent sounds
And mystic Cadillacs,
Screeching souls that Osiris carved
With mangled battle-axe;
Mushroom condos in the sky
With neon parasols,
Nightly banter that can’t be shattered
The ancient record tells.
Lonely streets, silent sounds
And billowy, bedraggled seas,
Phantom Phoenician travelers
Selling honey, chalk and teas;
Prussian pubescence red with essence
Transfixed by dangerous hope,
Cowboys riding Pleistocene tigers
Up Byzantium’s daunting slope.
Lonely streets, silent sounds
And shovels, picks and hoes,
Frightened cows, delirious sows,
King philosopher on his toes;
Silver rays on chromium play
Commingled with the lark,
Drunk Dionysus rebukes the sun
To save the drowning Ark.

Jeweled Eyes
Her eyes are jewels
under a sky that rules
and all the wonder in those eyes
relieves the hunger deep inside.
Her eyes are wonder
and how I know
is all she sees
she sees in rows;
rows and rows
and rows of roses.
Nothing like the nonsense
of their treasure troves.
Her eyes are jewels,
over me they rule,
and all the wonder in those eyes
relieves the sadness deep inside.
Jeweled eyes, jeweled skies,
nothing that a lie can hide.
