This Issue
Thanks to all of the poets who
contributed to this issue. As we only
do 2 issues a year it has been
some months since some of these
authors sent their poetry. I thank
them for their patience. This started
as a periodic letteR so that I wasn't
held to a deadline, that still holds
though I see that we are doing a
spring and fall issue of late, that
may be the future
Thanks to Taiyu John Robertson,
Susan Marie Davniero, Barry Gale,
Brian Bronson, Liliana Alam, Taylor
Graham, Roger Desy, and Cordelia
Brown for their contributions. Also
Cameo Victor's Tarot Card art adds
beauty, color and insight as does
her poetry.
It seems some theme or intent
develops as these issues come
together. Taiyu John Robertson
begins with his insight into death
and hence life, with his deepening
Buddhist sensibilities. Susan, Barry
and Brian take us on a rhythmic ride
into the immediacy of life. Cameo's
Tarot art and her poetry shows us
the travail and the wisdom of a
beautifully lived life. Liliana, Taylor,
Roger and Cordelia do all they can
to give us a chance at the beauty all
around, outside and inside. We go
on the perfect human journey,
life...death...life... and on and on, all
wrapped in as much beauty as we
can find, as we can stand.
John
More notes
Joel Netsky's The Unequivocality of a Rose was entered in the 2007 L.L. Winship/PEN New England
Awards, given annually to a New England author or a book with a New England setting. Joel's book
was not selected, the award for poetry was given to Ms. Ann Killough for Beloved Idea (Alice James
Books).
The L.L. Winship/PEN New England Award was established by The Boston Globe in 1975 to honor
long-time Boston Globe editor Laurence L. Winship. It has been awarded in the past to, among
others, Mary Oliver and Stanley Kunitz.
Joel and this publisher would like to thank PEN New England, the L.L. Winship/PEN New England
Award organizers and the judges for the opportunity to enter Joel's fascinating book. We also
congratulate the winner in the poetry category, Ann Killough and wish her the best with Beloved Idea.
